Marbella Holidays

Marbella
Overview

One of the most popular resorts on the Costa del Sol is the sun-soaked town of Marbella, famous for its lively club scene, glitzy hotels, superstar marina and relaxed, touristy vibe. Situated in southern Spain and sheltered by the beautiful Sierra Blanca mountains, Marbella's marvelous natural setting only adds to its popularity.

There's enough sand to suit all sun-worshippers on Marbella holidays, thanks to its 25-kilometre stretch of coastline, which boasts a variety of beaches including family-friendly Cabopino, buzzing Nikki beach, young and fun Bounty beach, and more. When you're not sipping cocktails, surfing the waves or lazing on the sand, hit the swanky marina at Puerto Banus for high-end bars, designer boutiques and waterfront restaurants such as Pizzeria Picasso and Don Leone - fit for fine-dining. If you fancy a change of scene, Marbella's Plaza de los Naranjos (or Orange Square) is one of the old quarters beautiful hidden gems, with cosy tapas bars and restaurants surrounding the cobblestone square, backed by vibrant orange trees.

If you like day trips, mix up your holidays in Marbella by catching a glimpse of the resort's rich history with a tour of the Rio Verde Roman Villa, where you'll find ancient baths and mosaics left by the Romans. For culture, hop on a train across the Tajo Gorge to the cobbled town of Ronda, or catch a bus to Gibraltar for a slice of home away from home. Marbella has no airport, however, it is well-connected to the airport of Malaga, from which it takes about 40 minutes to reach the bustling beach town.

Feast Like a Foodie

Feast Like a Foodie

Marbella is a great mix of relaxed dining and lux celebrity hangouts. As you enjoy the relaxing sound of the Med lapping the golden sand, stop at one of the beach bars – chiringuitos – where you can enjoy a refreshing ice cold drink or a snack, without the worry of turning up in your two-piece. If you're looking for an upscale dining experience with adventurous platters, try the chef special rosemary rabbit confit at Paco Jiménez; crab curry ravioli with banana at Restaurante Messina; and spaghetti with shellfish sauce at Villa Tiberio – which is a masterpiece of Sandro Morelli, one of Spain’s well-known restaurateurs.

This pedestrianised palm tree-lined promenade can be found right in the heart of Marbella and is a bustling focal point during the day and night. Take a romantic stroll at sunset to enjoy the views, as golden hues blanket the horizon. You'll pass a number of shops, tapas stalls and cocktail bars and can see the lively street performers too.
